Fernando orders hot pursuit on San Ildefonso police shooting, offers P200k to pinpoint suspects
CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando orders hot pursuit on the suspects who shot PLTCOL. Marlon G. Serna, Acting Chief of Police of San Miguel MPS, resulting to his death and offered P200,000 reward to anyone who can tell the whereabouts of the suspects after the armed confrontation that took place in Brgy. Buhol na Mangga, San Ildefonso, Bulacan last Saturday, March 25, 2023.
The incident was reported to the San Ildefonso MPS at around 10:00 PM through a telephone call and the victim including an injured 17-year-old resident of Brgy. Soledad, Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija named Jay Jay Gabriel Dela Cruz, personal driver of COP, was rushed immediately to Emmanuel Hospital.
According to the initial investigation, the San Ildefonso MPS led by Serna were conducting a follow-up investigation and operation regarding a robbery incident in Brgy. San Juan, San Miguel and while on a hot pursuit operation at Brgy. Buhol na Mangga, they encountered the suspects on board a MIO motorcycle and immediately fired at the responding team, hitting Serna in the head before fleeing towards Brgy. Akle, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.
Along with the current investigation of the Police Regional Office 3, Fernando directed the Bulacan Police Provincial Office to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident to determine the identities of the suspect and hold them accountable for their crime.
“We have our BPPO to conduct investigations with utmost seriousness and rigor to identify the suspects and we will make sure that justice will be served for the death of our police officer. Nananawagan rin ako sa kapwa nating mga Bulakenyo na ipag-bigay alam kaagad sa mga kinauukulan kung may impormasyon hinggil sa mga suspek. Sinisiguro ko na mananagot sa batas ang nasa likod ng pamamaril na ito,” the governor said.
He also extended his condolences to the family and loved ones of Serna who served bravely to fulfill his duties to maintain peace and order in communities.
Other than Fernando, other officials who also offered rewards that could lead to the arrest of the suspects were Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Benjamin Abalos, Jr. with P500,000; P300,000 from PBGEN. Jose S. Hidalgo, Jr., Police Regional Office 3 Director and P200,000 from PNP Chief PGEN. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. ###
